This coat rack reminds me of a woman. Of this woman to be precise:

You were planning to stay in, you had it carefully planned
Your coat was hanging in the hall, your hat was in your hand
You walked over to your woman, your pale distracted love
Who was trying to put the wrong hand into the wrong glove

Are you leaving, dear? Are you leaving, dear?
Are you leaving, dear? Are you leaving, dear?

Further along in the song she fucks the protagonists brains out - her little way of leaving him, she says. She has him driving her to the station, to his own surprise. And when he is crying buckets on the platform, she gives her glove a wave telling him that's no way to behave, when I am leaving you.

Now isn't this exactly the re-destined coat rack of such a pale distracted love leaving her loverman one kiss at a time?

(aside: This photo-music associative pattern that photo of this weeks photo of the week keeps popping up – as opposed to the intended photo-story associative pattern – confronts me with my roots. Yes, I am of the MTV generation, so at least half of the photographs I receive for this project first and foremost summon music associations. Now that confrontation makes me think about how the MTV network has forgotten about it's M... - You are not acquainted with your own heart! Pay heed to these words of Dave Eugene Edwards you MTV programmers... Actually a shame that a video was never made for 'She's leaving you' – this coat rack might very well have featured in it.)
