In the great the small, in the small the great. Not a very grand opening, I admit, but come closer, closer, still closer, yet even closer and there will be something grand. See through this print, through this matter, straight through these molecules and closer still, and you will see a whole universe unfold itself. In these letters, just like in your potted plant, you will find infinity. The fresh green leaves that you tend to, keeping them free of dust so the pores don’t get covered, are actually whole worlds in themselves. The earth you pour water into is in fact the basis of all life. Even as you sit reading this a leaf might fall off, like a planet that’s been smashed out of its orbit and careens wildly through space.
We often question the existence of God, but fail to see who we resemble when we tend to our own little world, what effects we bring about in the universe of a simple potted plant. The torrents of our whimsical attention flooding the dark earthen plains that house it, the miracles we perform with curtains and drapes, making the sun disappear and conjuring it forth again. In the great we are but tiny gods, but in the tiny we are great gods.
