My wife and I married on the day of the summer solstice.
I’ll never be able to shake off the feeling that on this longest day of the year miracles can happen, that there is a deep agreement in the universe that this is a benevolent day.
All over the world people celebrate this day, which in numerous religions is a day of joy and abundance.
I look at the festive bunting hung out in the street and realize that maybe we are so eager to celebrate this day because it’s the herald of a long and warm season.
People are more outgoing, vibrant, and it’s exactly that feeling of being alive that I yearn for in the cold winters.
Anything can happen, the days whisper, and everyone has their ears pricked up to not miss a thing.
If all goes well, my daughter will be born on this day, exactly one year into our marriage.
I hope it will be so, I believe in the good fortune that is attached to this day.
Let her be born and blessed with the possibilities that lie ahead.
