Paradise with thirty storey condo projects – life deals, and we deal with it best we can. That thought, rising from this picture, brought to mind a piece of literature I read only hours before this photograph hit my mailbox. It was, at least in my book, such magnificent piece of writing on an extremely complex and unnerving topic, that I am simply going to reproduce it here, in my own English translation. And don't worry, there's plenty of implied promised and landscape and paradise to go around, for the text to check in with this image.*

So please, join me, in reading these words by Julio Cortazar:

'Know, pale reader, that every time someone decides not to really die, a very real birth is what follows, all the more precarious and painful because you appear out of the darkness with no other mother than yourself, with no other contractions than a will you do not always understand. The mind will remember for days how it couldn't get any grasp on the body or on the outside world, and without that other point of view, life seems so much more fragile than the body actually living it. You surprise yourself as you grope your way through a world that is nonetheless full of light, to slowly but surely return to the humans, as if they might break at the slightest contact, while you note that inside you, not all debris from your ruins has yet fallen back into place.'

Los autonautas de la cosmopista. Viaje atemporal París-Marsella – J. Cortazar & C. Dunlop, 1983

* Nonetheless, might you fail to see the connection with these lines, which are after all torn from their context rather crudely, do obtain the book from store or library and read it – you might just stumble upon a wonderful reading experience.
