Foreword
This PotW edition was written while I was on vacation. This means that I have been duly lazy about it. The first impressions and associations brought about by this picture are not mine, but my almost four year old daughter’s. I am forever grateful for her willingness to participate and for her magnificent input.

I can’t live in this new world. Really I can’t. It may look like I can, but I might as well be from some fairy tale with nothing buts forests and wolves and red hoods and candy houses and what not. Not sure if I would be a prince, but I am certainly not what you might think, looking at me dressed and coiffured like this.

I finally escaped that party going on in the pink room in the back there, to settle here with my favourite indulgence: a good old children’s book from way back. I never leave home without one in my laptop bag. The best are those which were read to me by my parents a thousand times and which I then read and reread and rereread myself another thousand times, as soon as I was able to. With a flashlight, deep under the covers, having perfected my fake sleeping-breath to such an extent that it really fooled my parents into believing I was sound asleep. Those were the days.

Now they catch me – not my parents but clients, bosses, colleagues – through this damn smart phone. If it’s so smart, why can’t it leave me in peace when I need to be? I’m just going to check the pictures I took of my kids last weekend and then I am going to read. Read about a little boy and his little red tow truck and they can all just stuff it. Hear that? That’s me sleep-breathing. I am not here.
