It’s a strange thing, pride. It makes man build pyramids, makes them erect giant stone penises aimed at the heavens. Just like we build Olympic cities to show to the world our feeling of camaraderie, and funnel off the resources from much needed social programmes that help the weak in our societies. Is it that charity can’t be waved around like a giant penis? Still, we sell it well. We make sure the community profits, too. We build a museum of the future to show our aspirations toward becoming a better society and forget to remind ourselves that this is a sinful boast. How many houses fit into this museum, how many meals could’ve been served on its budget?
The one thing that redeems us, is that we provide the fuel dreams are made of. We build what people look up to, what fathers point out to their children. Maybe one day someone will grow up and build something to make everyone proud, something everyone profits from.
