I think there is a certain knack to seeing objects in clouds, which resembles the art of flying as it has been explained to me by someone a few weeks back. As he put it flight is achieved by falling to the ground and at the last moment getting distracted from your imminent collision. You will cease to fall and, because you are at that point in mid-air, you will remain there and can commence your flight.
Seeing objects in clouds is, likewise, best approached in a roundabout way. If you lay on your back on the grass and let the clouds pass you by without paying attention to a particular one, all kinds of images will appear before you. Or you could look from the corner of your eye. The clouds at the edge of your vision will form phantasmal chimeras, twenty-four piece tea sets and yappy dogs frolicking in white ephemeral bushes. It is exactly the same with this picture. You won’t see the three birds until you stop concentrating.
