My ocean is blue and there’s nothing I can do…, but swim in it! All the way to that island, if it so comes to pass. The lure of the ocean is never greater than when said ocean is coloured like this one. P.B. Shelley, stuck on his sinking sailboat in the Mediterranean Sea, was offered help by other vessels, more than once actually, but he refused to leave that intoxicating shimmering blue landscape, thus finding his godforsaken death tied to a barrel, probably swallowing heaps of his beloved salty waters (legend has it the barrel crashed when a large wave threw it onto the beach a few days later and the authorities insisted the body be burned at the stake to prevent any diseases from spreading; Byron was present at this open air cremation and allegedly reported that his friends brain fell out of the burning skull complete intact and unspoiled…, but I digress, do I not?!). Still, the lure is strong. The colour makes one temporarily forget the dangers all that water holds. That’s dangerous in and of itself and while you swan dive into that blue water your brain won’t even let you acknowledge that…
My hotel is blue / Beautiful ocean blue / Paint melting off the walls, but still, it’s my hotel and I will continue to return to it every chance I get, until, just once, I manage to reach that island.
